National organizations provide excellent networking and learning opportunities. Take some time to determine which organization makes the most sense for your company and then apply for membership. Not every organization will be a good fit. It’s often better to sign up for a newsletter from each organization to determine where your business fits best. Additionally, it’s essential to seek local organizations or chapters in order network locally. This might include being active in the local Chamber of Commerce or business development group. Networking enables you to share your expertise with others and it benefits you to learn from others.

 

NAIOP – the Commercial Real Estate Development Association

NAIOP is a 55 year-old organization with over 20,000 members in the United States. The group provides education, networking and advocacy for the commercial real estate industry. NAIOP offers annual events as well as chapter events in order connect people nationally and locally. The upcoming annual conference is scheduled for October 10-12 in Chicago. ICSC – International Council of Shopping Centers

ICSC is an organization with over 60 years of history. The strategy and focus of the organization follows core goals to “advance the industry narrative, grow & engage membership, and enhance product & service offerings.” The organization offers chapter events as well as national opportunities to provide education and growth for members.

 

Florida Commercial Brokers Network

The Florida Commercial Brokers Network is a robust organization designed to connect brokers within the state of Florida to domestic and foreign buyers. This network connects 14 member firms with entrepreneurs looking to expand their portfolio of property. Membership is by invitation only, which is another important point in networking.
